GAAPx Score

Questions people ask

Short answers about the GAAPx Score, your answers and your scores.

Where does your work wait?

It is day 6 of close and three reconciliations are still open. An invoice was coded on Monday and is still in an approver’s inbox on Thursday. Nobody is slow. The work is finished and the next step has not started.

Rework and hand-offs pile up in the same places. Add a tool to a step that waits and you keep the wait, now with software on it. We call that the automated mess.

Your GAAPx Score finds the waits, the rework and the hand-offs first. Then you choose a tool, if you still need one, for a step that is worth fixing.

Why teams put this off

“We don't have time.”
Pick the one you run most. The rest can wait.
“We don't have budget.”
Rate it and browse the use cases before you commit to anything.
“Not sure it's worth it.”
See your stage and biggest gap. If nothing is worth acting on, stop there.

Start with the basics

What is the GAAPx Score?

A self-assessed score of how your finance work runs and whether your team can change it. You answer questions, then get two scores, a stage and your first steps. It is our own proposed method.

Who is it for?

CFOs, controllers and senior accountants who want a clear starting point before choosing a tool. Any finance team can use it, in any industry.

How long does it take?

Rough answers are fine, and answers are not graded. Answer what you know and mark the rest “not sure”.

Do I need to log in?

You can start without an account. You sign in to save your results and to enter your own pay and cost rates, which feed the savings figures. No email is asked for before you see your first insight.

Who sees my answers?

Only you. We use answers in anonymised form only with your consent, and we delete your data on request.

Is it a standard or a certification?

No. It is a proposed method. The score bands and the minimum of 60 are our starting assumptions, and we will review them as we learn from real use.

Do you compare me with other companies?

No. Your scores come from your own answers and are not compared with other companies.

What is a stage?

A label for where your GAAPx Score falls, numbered 1 to 5: Manual, Digitized, Automating, Agent-assisted and Agentic. It describes how the work is done. It does not grade your team.

What is the Readiness score and why does it matter?

It shows whether your finance team can change how it works: Talent, Operating model, Technology, Data, and Support and time. A faster workflow lasts when the team behind it can run it.

Why two scores?

A good workflow and a team that can change it are two different facts. You get one score for each, so you do not fix only the workflow or only the team. Readiness is separate and never changes your GAAPx Score.

What if my Readiness score is low?

Your first steps start with preparing your team, beginning with the part that needs the most support. You can still see every use case. A low score shows where to start.
